Haul // Scottish Beauty Show

On Sunday I attended the Scottish Beauty Show along with my sister. I have never been to a beauty show before so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect or what brands/ companies would be there, however I did have an idea of what I was hoping to get which included a brow set. There were a few big brands there like China Glaze, (which I restrained myself from! I am very proud of myself!) Sleep-In Rollers and Dermalogica. There was also three girls there from The only way is Essex but I don’t watch that show so wasn’t really bothered about their stuff even though I have to wait on the side lines while my sister queued to see Chloe Sims but she was first so I didn’t have to wait for long!

I got a brow set from Beautiful Brows, this set comes in a white and black compact with includes the brow powder in your colour (that you were matched to), a highlight powder, three stencils, 3 brushes (one double-sided), and a pair of tweezers that are apparently just as good as tweezermen tweezers well I’ll believe it when I see it! I haven’t had a chance to properly try it out but when I do I will do a review of it and maybe even an updated brow routine! Now if you have dark hair then you’ll probably be able to relate with me that when you shave you can still see the root of the hair and it comes back with one to two days and it all stubbly and horrible. Well there was a stand called Melody Claire that was selling pain free hair removal for anywhere on your body that gives a silky smooth finish that lasts for three weeks! I mean that sounds perfect right?! I again have not had a chance to give it a full try but I defiantly will let you know how I get on. They were selling it in a bag that had to boxes of it in which she said is a year supply – each box lasts about six months as they have “4 micro-crystal replacement pads”. It was £20 for the bag and normally each box is £20 so you’re saving massively especially if you think how much razors and shaving gel is! So I am really hoping it works!

As you could probably tell I was well restrained and only bought two products that I will hopefully get lots of use out of them! I will as I said let you know how I get on with these products and in the upcoming months I will do full reviews of both products. Thanks for Reading!

I Heart Drugstore Make-up TAG with Pretty Little Fashionista

Today I am going to be doing a Tag with Kirsty from PrettyLittle Fashionista, me and Kirsty have done some posts together before but we haven’t done anything in a while and so I thought we have to do something, I came up with some tags and we both liked the idea of the I <3 Drugstore Make-up. The first paragraph is my answer and the second with a K- at the begging is Kirsty’s answer. Hope you enjoy…
1, What is your favourite drugstore make-up brand?

This is rather easy to answer especially as this brand has been on fire recently with new products realises. Rimmel has been amazing within the last six months with bringing out new products from the Apocalips Lip Lacquers to modifying their foundations like Match Perfection which is one of my all-time favourites and will of course be featured in this post.

K - Now this is a really tricky question as I like lots of different products from different brands. If I had to pick I'd probably say Rimmel as I like a whole range of their products from their face products to eye products.
2, What are your favourite face, cheek and lip products?

So I’m going to keep this simple by only mentioning to products for each category I know I have restrained myself!) For face products it has to be Rimmel – Match Perfection Foundation, it has a medium coverage, suits my skin tone perfectly which is rare for high street foundations and it leaves my skin looking healthy. The next product has probably featured in almost every single post of this sort but it is well worth it Collection – Lasting Perfection Concealer, enough said! For cheek products I picked Maybelline – Dream Touch Blush – 02 Peach and Natural Collection – Peach Melba both blushes have great pigmentation and look great on. Now this was probably the hardest to narrow myself down to two products as I had originally picked about ten so maybe I will do a post in the future all about my favourite high street lip products! Anyway I have picked Rimmel – Lasting Finish by Kate Lipstick – 101 and Revlon – Colourburst Lipgloss – 002 Crystal Lilac, these are both great products that give an amazing finish to my lips (separately!).

K - For concealer and foundation they are both from Rimmel. They are the Wake Me Up foundation and concealer. These are amazing products and work amazingly by themselves but when they are used together they look really lovely. My favourite blusher is the NYC colour wheel in plum passion it is such a lovely colour and love how it looks on my skin. For lip products I have 2 the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey which I wear every day and I have used so much of it. The second product is the Revlon Colourburst lipgloss in Bordeaux which is a new find for me but it has completely converted me. Before I tried it I never used to like glosses as I found that they were sticky and lacked the pigmentation of lipsticks. But Bordeaux isn't sticky and is very pigmented I also find that for a gloss it is very long lasting.
3, Least favourite product?

I am going to mention two products because they are basically the same apart from ones a blush and ones a bronzer. This is a product that you either love or hate – I hate it! And I really don’t understand how anybody could like these products! For some people this is in their “Holy Grail” products!? But for me I only keep it for posts/ questions like this and it has a permanent place in a bag that all my disappointing products go or the bag of disappointment if you will! These are the MUA – Mosaic Blush/ Bronzer, you might wonder what’s wrong with them and well here go’… They are incredibly shimmery, they are rather sheer and the colours aren’t flattering on the skin at all – I have tried this on other skin tones and it has never looked nice. They are cheap that’s about the only positive!

K - I don't like the MUA Shimmer Kiss blusher. I really like the mosaic blush, the single powder and cream blushes, but this blush is horrible. I find that the formulation is really chalky and it feels really cheap. It also has the unpleasant smell of PlayDoh which I personally don't like.
4, What is your best make-up bargain?

My best make-up bargain is from the same brand that my least favourite product is from so that just shows some products just miss the mark. Anyway this is a must for me and I will re-purchase for a long time to come and it is the MUA – Mega Volume Mascara this beauty is only £3 and it gives your eyelashes volume, length and defines them. I love this so much and I always go back to it, it works just as well if not better than the hyped about high end mascaras!

K - My best makeup bargain is the lipsticks from ELF they are only £1.50. They have quite a big range to choose from they have colours ranging from nudes to reds. All of their lipsticks are fantastic quality and last quite a reasonable amount of time. They aren't drying either which is a common problem I find in cheaper lipsticks

5, What is your favourite underdog product?
(Something you love that often gets overlooked?)

This without a doubt has to be the Soap & Glory – Supercat Liquid Black Eyeliner Pen, I swear this is amazing it’s pigmented, lasts all day, is easy to use and is just an overall great product. It’s only around the £5 mark and I would recommend this to anybody wanting a black liquid liner whether you’re new at make-up or if you’re an experienced make-up artist – just try it!

K - This has to me by single eyeshadow by Bourjois in the shade Tabac Blond. Not many people talk about Bourjois but when they do they talk about the foundations. No one ever seems to mention the eyeshadows which in my opinion are amazing. They are really pigmented and very blendable. I definitely recommend their eyeshadows another plus is the packaging is super cute.

6, A drugstore product that is overpriced?

This was quite tricky as if the products has been too expensive I have just not bothered getting it, but when I was doing my research for this I discovered I paid £8.19 for L’Oreal – Rouge Caresse Lipstick – 101 Tempting Lilac. Now I do like this product but the texture and finish is much more of a lip butter or a highly pigmented lip balm than a lipstick however I do still love it.

K - I personally think the Revlon lip butters are overpriced. I love the lip butters but I feel that £7.99 is quite expensive for what they are. Some of the colours in the range aren't fantastic especially the lighter shades which come out patchy. If they were priced at £5 I think that would be a more reasonable price.

7, Show your best drugstore dupe(s)!!

I’m going to share with you two dupes both for your face – ones a face powder and the other is a highlighting concealer. I love my MAC – Mineralized Skin Finish Natural but even though I love it I dis like the price tag! So I decided to give a go at a pressed powder that everyone was talking about and that was really cheap this would be Rimmel – Stay Matte Pressed Powder, I personally think there very similar as they are both light powders that can be built up without looking cakey or powdery especially since I have dry skin and I don’t need a powder to control excess oil on my skin as well there is none! My next dupe is for the YSL – Touché Éclat I again loved this product but dis liked the price tag, especially since I do like to use a highlighting concealer under my eye most days especially when I have slept well, so therefore I needed a product that was cheaper as I felt I was wasting my gorgeous gold pen of magic so that put me onto the search for a highlighting concealer and well long story short I found Maybelline- Dream Lumi Highlighting Concealer. First of this is darker than my Touché Éclat and next time I will get the lighter shade but they both give a similar effect. It is really easy if you do your research to find dupes for high-end products as the high end brands also own the cheaper brands so the products are very similar you just need to do your re-search.

K - This has to be MUA's Undressed palette not only is it a great dupe for the Urban Decay Naked palette it is a fantastic palette on its own. The colours are really pigmented and are great to work with. Another good dupe is the ELF contouring kit in St Lucia which is a dupe for the Nars Orgasm and Laguna duo. The quality of the blush and bronzer is very good and for £3.75 it's a steal.

8, Drugstore product that isn’t worth the hype?
This is really difficult to answer as I just can’t think of a product that has a lot of hype around it that didn’t live up to my expectations so I am going to go back to my answer for question three and say I really can’t understand how anyone could like the Mua – Mosaic Blush – 3 English Rose and Mua – Mosaic Bronzer in 2 Sunkissed Glow. It just baffles me!

K - This is going to be extremely controversial but I don't think the Rimmel Apocalips are worth the hype. I bought the shade Big Bang and I've been extremely disappointed. Everyone has raved about how good they are and I don't think that they live up to the hype. They smudge easily and often end up on my teeth and I can't understand why anyone would like them. Perhaps it's the concept I don't like seen as everyone else seems to love them or perhaps I'm applying them wrong either way they didn't live up to the hype.
I hope you enjoyed, this was quite interesting as I was able to have a rummage in my collection and I found some things I forgot I had! So this was almost like a shopping my stash kind of post! I’m sure me and Kirsty will do more posts together soon. Do you like any of the products mentioned?

Opi Oz the Great and Powerful Mini Nail Polishes

Recently while I was at Salon Services I spotted that Opi had a new collection Oz the Great and Powerful, now sadly the store I was at was practically sold out of the full size colours so I got the mini bottles that has four colours from the collection in it. The full collection contains seven colours, three of the colours are glitter, three are nude pinks and one of the colours is liquid sand which is a new type of nail polish that Opi are doing. The box of minis has the three nude pinks and the liquid sand nail polishes, I did see swatches of the glitter nails polishes are they look really nice “Which is Witch?” and “Lights of Emerald City” are both similar because they are both silver glitter based. I do however really want to get “When Monkey’s Fly!” as it was silver glitter based with gold glitter chunks which isn’t like anything I already have. Within the box of minis there is “Don’t Burst my Bubble”, “Glints of Glinda”, “I Theodora You” and “What Wizardry is This?”.

The colours are quite sheer since they are nudes but they are buildable and after a few coats they become quite strong.  These colours are gorgeous on and they are perfect for you if you love natural colours on your nails and colours that make your nails look healthy. I hope you enjoyed, if you have these colours let me know what you think about them!

My Blog has a New Name!

If you haven't already noticed by the title of this post I have changed the name of my blog! So my blog has gone from Dreams with Butterflies to (drum roll please) Bows, Beauty and Becki. I did like my old name but it didn't tell you anything about what this is all about! So that’s why I am in love with my new name because it's cute, unique and tells you want this blog is partly about which is all things beauty related.
I have changed everything that needs to be changed, with has taken some time and a lot more effort than previously expected! (Technical difficulties!) I have also changed some aspects of my blog for example I am going to be doing much more detailed post with much better photos. I have downloaded a software programme that is amazing for editing photos, so they will be much more true to life. I previously tried to upload three posts a week most of the time that is do-able but sometimes it can get a bit much, therefore I am going to aim to do two to three post that are just better quality as the saying goings – “It’s not about the quantity, it’s about the quality”. I am going to have a mix of posts still mostly beauty related but I’m going to throw in some fashion and some personal posts as well – just so you can really get to know me! I am putting all my spare time and all my effort into my blog as this little piece of the interweb really is important to me.

I will put my links to my social media sites below like twitter but I don’t have facebook for the simple reason that I really don’t like it! It would mean the world to me if you followed my blog, the follow button is in the side bar near the top. If you have any questions or just fancy a general chat you can either comment below or e-mail me on – bowsbeautyandbeckiblog@gmail.com .Thanks for reading it means the world to me!

♥ I Heart Spring TAG ♥

Hello... Today I am going to do the I ♥ Spring TAG, this was created by MissGlamourazzi on you tube and as soon as I seen this I knew that I had to answer these questions as normally Spring is one of my favourite seasons! So lets jump right into the questions...

1. Favourite spring nail polish?

That's a tricky question but if I had to pick one it would probably have to be Leighton Denny - Sundae Girl, it's a gorgeous pastel pink with lilac undertones.

2. What is your must-have lip colour this spring?

I don't tend to change my everyday lip colour up to much, as I love my neutral toned pinks. The lipsticks I love all year round are MAC - Angel, MAC - Creme Cup and MAC - Shy Girl (yes I love MAC lipsticks. But for something that stands out more I love YSL - Glossy Stain in 17, its a mid toned pink (not to bright not to subtle) and it lasts a long time and has a nice finish to it. ( Trust me to pick four different lip colours!)

3. Show us your favourite spring dress!

Now where I live spring is the same as winter I mean we had snow until the end of march and it is rarely hot or sunny, so there aren't many dresses you can wear with a big coat! So I'm going to show you two dresses one is more wear able for the weather we have, this is a black lace dress with 3/4 sleeves. The other dress I got recently but it is defiantly for hotter weather its a navy maxi dress with almost a lace neckline, I don't know if I will get a good chance to where this hear but if I go on holiday it will be the perfect dress.

4. What's your favourite flower?

My favourite flower is a gerbera, I love them they come in so many colours and they are simply beautiful - this is my favourite all time flower.

Source

5. Favourite spring scarf/accessory?

I recently got this scarf/snood from Primark it almost has a tribal print on it with different colours of cream, pink, navy and gold. For accessory I would have to say this necklace also from primark it's a long gold dangly necklace with lots of elements of this that are nautical for example an anchor or seashells, I love how it completes and outfit and it was only £2!

6. What spring trend(s) are you most excited about this year? (Makeup, fashion or both!)

To be honest I don't really follow "trends" to much I wear what I like - which is the best way to do it as we all have our own personal style.

7. Favourite spring candle?

Now if I live in America I would burn candles all year round as they have bath and body works but we don't have anywhere like that here. So I don't have any candles for spring ... Sorry!

8. Favourite body spray/perfume for spring?

Sometimes perfume can be a bit strong for doing daily tasks and it can also be a bit of a waste. I don't really own many body sprays but one I defiantly re-purchase is Ted Bakers Butterfly Spray, now I now idea how to describe the scent so all I'm going to say is its light and sweet but not to sweet! (I did say I wasn't very good at describing scents!)

9. What is spring like where you live?

Well like I said earlier Spring in the UK contains everything from snow to sunshine! So it makes it a tad bit difficult to explain so lets just say we can have any weather possible!

10. What's your favourite thing about spring?

My favourite thing about spring would have to be that it does or should start to get warmer which means a clear sky, green grass and the trees begin to look pretty again after Autumn and Winter. I'm just waiting until I can wear my sandals!

11. Are you a spring cleaner?

To be honest I'm a spring cleaner all year around as I hate clutter or mess!

12. Any plans for spring break or an upcoming vacation?

I would love to tell you yes I'm going away aboard but sadly that is not the case! I really want to go on holiday and I might possibly but I wont know for a few more months if its possible but i really want to go aboard as I haven't left the country for about six or seven years! I really want to go back to Toronto, Canada so I am saving to do that if not this year next year for sure!

I hope you enjoyed my version of the I ♥ Spring TAG, I love to do these types of tags as answering the questions can be quite fun and interesting at times! All I have to say is I hope the UK starts to warm up as after doing this I am craving nice weather!

♥ Selena Gomez Inspired Nails! ♥

(In case your wondering I print screened this from my iphone only
I could get a photo, sorry for quality! Best there was!)
Hello... How are we all today? Today I am going to share with you my take on Selena Gomez's nails, this is from the interview she did with Ryan Secrest on his show "On Air With Ryan Secrest" today. Some members of Ryan's team asked Selena some questions and one of them asked what Selena had on her nails, she said that it was Opi but she couldn't remember the colour. She had two colours on her nails a deep red with purple undertones and a shimmery gold nail polish on her ring finger. I loved her nails because they were so simple but still really stylish with the gold accent nail. Unfortunately you could get a good look at her nails just a quick peek while she moved her hands so from what I can see I got the gold colour to and almost dupe for the colour she was wearing however the purple-ly red isn't s exact its close but hers have more red in it and I didn't have a colour that similar but this still goes well it just has more purple in it.

- Remove any nail polish that you have on, then file and shape your nails - Selena's nails were a medium length and rounded (just a bit longer than my nails). Then apply a base coat to protect your nails, I am using Opi - Natural Nail Straightener. You may be able to notice in the picture that my nails are looking a bit damaged this is due to the fact I had glitter nail polish on that really didn't want to come off prior to doing this!

- I am then applying four coats of Opi - Houston We Have a Purple (no that is not a typing error I did apply four thin coats of this nail polish due to the simple fact that it is very sheer!) Like I said earlier this isn't an exact colour but I really wanted to get this up today so I am going to stick with it. For the gold on the ring finger I am using 17 - Gilt this from what I can see is almost exact but I very much doubt that Selena used 17.

- I am now using Opi - Rapid Dry Top Coat to add shine and to protect my nails. I am also going to use my trusted Leighton Denny - Miracle Drops to dry my nails in a few instants! I am then using cotton buds with nail polish remover on then to clean up any mistakes and make it look nicer - nobody wants messy nails!

And it's that simple! There's not much to this but I just really like this colour combo, sometimes I find it difficult to chose what colours to put and my nails and I love Selena's style so it would make sense that I love her nails! I hope you enjoyed!

♥ Everyday Eye Make-up #1 ♥

Hello, how are we all today? Today I am going to share with you the eye make up that I have been loving recently and have been wearing all the time. For this look I use gold and different tones of brown eyeshadow along with black liquid liner along the lash line and full eyelashes. I have to say this is quite a full and almost glamorous eye make-up for day to day, so that I don't look over done I normally keep the rest of my face looking very natural so not a lot of foundation and keeping blush and lipstick a neutral tones pink. So lets get into it...

- I always start off priming my eyelids I normally use Urban Decay Primer Potion but since I ran out I have been using my concealer Collection - Lasting Perfection concealer and that's been doing the exact same job as what the primer potion do ! So I'm not going to rush out and re-purchase one just now. I put this all over my eyelid to cover any discolouration or vains and it also helps the products stick and last longer.

-  I am now going to use Rimmel - Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Stick in 002 Bulletproof Beige, I normally put this all over my eyelid and then I blend it out - this is just a base for the gold eyeshadow.

- I then use the gold eyeshadow out of the Sleek - Storm Palette, I love this gold it's very pigmented and is gorgeous all over your eye lid.

- I then use Tease from the Urban Decay - Naked 2 palette on the outer quarter of my eye lid and also in my crease. Then using Snakebite from the same palette and using that in my crease and on my lower lash line.

- I am a girl that loves her eyeliner, I normally wear liquid liner along my upper lash line and well this hasn't changed any. I am using Soap and Glory - Supercat Liquid Liner, this is an amazing eye liner it lasts all day without wearing out and smudging. I have been using this for a long time and it is finally running out so its not as powerful as it once was so until I get around to buying a new one I am going to set the black liquid liner with Blackout e/s from the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette. To highlight my brow bone and inner corner I am going to use Foxy from the same Urban Decay Palette.

- I am now curling my eyelashes with my Cosmopolitan - Eyelash Curler and then using my favourite mascara which is Mua - Mega Volume Mascara on my upper and lower lashes.

Brushes/ Tools Used -

Real Techniques - Base Shadow Brush
Urban Decay - Naked 2
Frontcover - Fluff + Buff
MAC - 224
Real Techniques - Brow Brush
MAC - 266
Cosmopolitan - Eyelash Curler

I hope you enjoyed! I love this eye look and these colours go well with most skin tones and the look is also very versatile if you add false eyelashes it would be great for going out or you could tone it down and do it softer if this is to much for day to day.
